Age Foundation

The Age Foundation focuses on older people and their needs. To this end, the Foundation provides financial support for housing and care services for older people in German-speaking Switzerland. It also supports projects that identify innovative and inspiring solutions, thereby responding to changes in society. The Foundation makes the wealth of experience gained from the projects it supports available to the general public.

The Age Foundation has supported us with three projects. The low-threshold Digital Café, offering advice in a relaxed setting in public cafés, was launched in 2019. This gave rise to a further project, prompted by the coronavirus pandemic: digital support provided by appointment in one-to-one sessions, whilst adhering to safety measures. A third project involved the transition of sports and language courses for older people to online formats.

All three projects share the same aim: to boost older people’s digital skills.

An impressive video has been made about these pioneering projects.

We have made the detailed project documentation, full of fascinating insights, available for you to download.

CMS – Christoph Merian Foundation

The Christoph Merian Foundation is a charitable foundation governed by public law, based in Basel. It was established by the Basel merchant and agronomist Christoph Merian (1800–1858) and his wife Margaretha Merian-Burckhardt (1806–1886) in their will. According to the will, the foundation’s main purpose is to ‘alleviate hardship and misfortune’ and to ‘promote the welfare of people’ in the city of Basel. The foundation is subject to the supervision of the civic community of the City of Basel.

CMS’s support has enabled us to continue the ‘Hopp-La Fit – Generations on the Move’ project. During the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, two emergency aid projects were launched, and we were able to count on CMS’s support for these. We would like to express our sincere thanks.

The Hopp-La Foundation

As a national centre of excellence, the Hopp-La Foundation contributes to the nationwide dissemination and establishment of intergenerational physical activity and health promotion. The foundation was established in 2014. It raises awareness, empowers and advises stakeholders in civil society, public administration and politics, provides financial support for projects and invests in networking and research.

Since 2014, Pro Senectute in both Basel cantons has been organising joint physical activity programmes in collaboration with the Hopp-La Foundation. Currently, one such programme is running at the Gustav Benz residential care home in partnership with the Claragraben nursery school.
