Theft at the
outdoor swimming pool

This way, your valuables are well protected

In summer, you want to be able to jump into the water without a care in the world. However, bags, smartphones and wallets left unattended are easy pickings. With a few simple precautions, you can significantly reduce the risk of theft.

  • Take only the essentials: Take as few valuables as possible to the garden pool. Limit cash, cards and other personal items to what you actually need.
  • Lock away your valuables: Use changing room lockers, storage lockers or valuables depots if these are available. Your smartphone, wallet and keys are safer there than in an unattended bag by your sun lounger.
  • Don’t leave your smartphone lying around in plain sight: Do not leave your smartphone, smartwatch or other valuable items lying visibly on your beach towel or in an open bag. Even a supposedly good hiding place in shoes or under clothes offers little protection.
  • Keep your keys separate from your address: Do not keep your house keys together with documents or other items on which your address is visible. This will prevent theft from having further consequences in the worst-case scenario.
  • Look after your belongings together: If you’re out with a group, you can take turns whilst swimming so that someone stays with your personal belongings. Otherwise, ask a trustworthy person to keep an eye on them for a moment.
  • Stay alert: Be on the lookout for unusual or suspicious situations. Report any such observations to the Gartenbad staff.
